Rudd woman, allegedly drunk, crashes car into pickup, mailbox and yard in Mason City

MASON CITY – A Rudd woman, allegedly drunk and possibly texting, crashed her Pontiac into a pickup, a mailbox and a yard in Mason City Sunday evening.

Mason City police tell NIT that on January 13, 2019, at 9:02 PM, a collision was reported in the 1100 block of 12th Street NE in Mason City. Morgan Larson, age 25 of Rudd, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix eastbound at this location. Larson allegedly drifted towards the curb and struck a parked vehicle, then went up onto the curb and struck a mailbox and then street sign. The vehicle still continued to travel further south into a citizen’s property and collided with a resident’s fenced-in yard.

The 1999 Chevy Silverado that was struck by Larson’s vehicle had severe damage to the left side of the truck. The rear driver’s side tire was broken off from the impact. Damage to both Silverado and the Grand Prix, mailbox, street sign, and fencing is estimated to be nearly $9,600.

Larson was arrested for OWI 2nd offense, failure to maintain control, failure to prove insurance, and using electronic communication device (18 years and older). Larson was jailed and soon released, pending a court date.  She was arrested for drunk driving in Charles City back on August 28, 2016, and later convicted.
