Five people taken to hospital after crash in rural Cerro Gordo county

VENTURA – Five people were taken to Mercy Hospital after a crash Wednesday morning south of Ventura.

On August 23 at 7:42 AM at the intersection of S-14 (Balsam Avenue) and 235th Street, a two vehicle accident occurred. A 2003 Chevy Cavalier driven by 17-year-old Star Pralle of Clear Lake was traveling westbound on 235th Street. A 1992 Chevrolet Caprice driven by 37-year-old Tasha McBride of Meservey was traveling northbound on Balsam Avenue. Ms. Pralle proceeded through the intersection, colliding with Ms. Mcbride’s vehicle.

As a result of the collision, a passenger in Pralle’s vehicle, 14-year-old Raine Pralle Clear Lake and driver Tasha McBride were both transported to North Iowa Mercy Medical Center. Passengers in McBrides vehicle, 4-year-old Preston Henkes, 8-year-old Alyssa Henkes, and 11-year-old Aubry Henkes of Meservey along with driver Star Pralle were transported by private vehicles to North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

Both vehicles were complete loss.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was Clear Lake Police Department, Garner Ambulance, Clear Lake Ambulance and Ventura Fire Department.
