MASON CITY – A Mason City woman may have been inhaling the funny stuff before resisting police during a welfare check.
Mason City police were called to do a welfare check on the afternoon of June 5 at 2216 25th Street SW. There, officers encountered 27-year-old Angela Louise Asche. After an investigation, officers determined Asche had violated a city ordinance prohibiting the inhalation of toxic vapors. City code explicitly states, “no person shall knowingly smell or inhale the fumes of toxic vapors for the purpose of causing a condition of euphoria, excitement, exhilaration, stupefaction, or dulled senses of the nervous system.”
Apparently, as officers went to arrest Asche, she resisted arrest and was further charged with interference with official acts and serious assault on a peace officer. She was taken to the county jail, booked, and held on $2,000 bond. She remains there at this time, awaiting a June 16 hearing.
