Rockwell woman in county jail attacks and injures inmate

MASON CITY – A Rockwell woman held in the Cerro Gordo county jail on drug charges allegedly attacked another inmate, causing an injury, and now faces an assault charge.

Vanessa Rose Belcher, age 42 of Rockwell, allegedly assaulted another inmate on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 19, 2017. A report states Belcher “charged at and struck” another inmate, causing a cut under the victim’s eye and a bump on the head.

Belcher was charged with assault causing serious injury.  She’ll face a hearing later this month.

Belcher was arrested after a car chase back in January in Cerro Gordo county. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a class B felony; failure to affix tax stamp, a class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor.
