EMMETSBURG, IOWA – Two people were hurt in an auto accident Tuesday afternoon in Palo Alto county.
On January 24, 2017 at 3:18 PM, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 470th Street and Highway 4. Kevin Dean Schuller, age 58 of Curlew, was eastbound on 470th Street approaching Highway 4 when he lost control of his 2009 Chevrolet Silverado and slid through the intersection. Schuller struck a southbound vehicle driven by James John Souder, age 50 of Carroll. Souder was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix.
As a result of the collision, both vehicles are considered a total loss. Damage to the Silverado is estimated at $15,000 and the Grand Prix damage is estimated at $10,000.
Both drivers were believed to sustain non-incapacitating injuries. Souder was transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital by ambulance.
Schuller was cited for Failure to Maintain Control a Simple Misdemeanor.
The Mallard First Responders and Mallard Fire Department assisted the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office on scene.
