Two men hurt in collision Monday morning

ambulanceRURAL MASON CITY – Two men were hurt in a collision outside Mason City early Monday morning.

The accident took place at about 6:45 AM Monday at the intersection of Highway 65 and 150th Street.

A 1991 White Chevrolet Camaro driven by Austin Busma, age 18 of Hampton was traveling northbound on Highway 65 approaching the intersection of 150th Street. A 2002 Green Ford Taurus driven by Greg Post, age 56 of Mason City was traveling westbound on 150th. Mr. Post entered the intersection, colliding with Mr. Busma.

Post was transported to North Iowa Mercy Health with minor injuries. Busma was transported to North Iowa Mercy Health Center by private transportion.

Post was cited for failure to obey traffic contol device. Drivers of both vehicles were wearing their seat belts, there was air bag deployement in Busma’s vehicle.

Both vehicles were considered a total loss.

Assisting the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was the Rockwell / Swaledale EMT’s and Mason City fire medics.
