NORA SPRINGS, IOWA – The brand new aquatic center pool in Nora Springs is nearly ready to open, as a current slight delay is worked out.

The Nora Springs Aquatic Center said Tuesday morning that the pool won’t be ready to open this weekend as thought previously.  Opening day was planned, originally, for May 18.

“Some normal inspections are happening over the next week to give us clearance,” The aquatic center said Tuesday via social media. “All parties need a little more time to prepare for this Huge milestone.”

The pool and aquatic center has been planned for years, with construction beginning last year.  Kids took a bus to Manly last summer just to get into a pool.

The project included the construction of a new aquatic center with a 6,265 square-foot pool with zero depth entry, current channel, basketball hoops, log roll, climbing wall, diving, an enclosed slide, floatables, family slide, sunshades and a concession stand. The state gave a $100,000 grant to facilitate construction, and other donations were accepted as well.

Pool hours will be Monday through Friday 1 PM – 5 PM and 6:3o PM -8 PM, Saturday 1 PM – 8 PM and Sunday 1 PM – 7 PM. Pool passes can be purchased at city hall.
