MASON CITY – A convicted domestic abuser was allegedly up to his old tricks Tuesday night.
Mason City police were called to 1432 North Washington Avenue in Mason City around 9:46 PM in response to a physical domestic at that location. Officers arrived and as a result of their investigation, arrested 30-year-old Joshua James Rettig, who lives there. He was charged with second offense domestic abuse assault and held on $2,000 cash bond in the county jail. A no-contact protective order was set by a judge.
Rettig has been on probation ever since June of 2014. Police officers responded to 1432 North Washington Avenue on the evening of Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2014 on a report of a physical domestic incident. Rettig was arrested at the scene, and later pled not guilty to felony domestic abuse assault involving strangulation.
Rettig was sentenced by Judge Annette Boehlje to 365 days in jail with 363 suspended and two years of probation. She suspended a $625 fine as part of the plea deal. Shortly after his arrest, however, Boehlje had cancelled the protective no-contact order between Rettig and his victim.
They never stop, Judge!
