The Volunteer Fair is an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the many volunteer options here in our community. The fair, which is free and open to the public, will have representatives from around 40 service organizations to share information on how they serve the community and how you can get involved. Some of the organizations attending include the Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, and Francis Lauer.
“Volunteering can benefit you, your family and your community,” said Patti Hanson, Director of Online Learning/Title III at NIACC. “Finding the right volunteer opportunity can help you learn new skills, reach out to the community, and establish new relationships. The impact on the community is probably the most well-known benefit that volunteering has – it allows you to connect with your community and make it a better place.”
The Volunteer Fair was inspired by the Common Read of Wine to Water, by Doc Hendley, who will be on campus in November. The theme of volunteerism will also be incorporated into coursework as NIACC increases the focus on Service Learning in the curriculum.
