Iowa man dies after slamming into silage chopper

iowa-state-patrol-logo-doorGREELEY, IOWA – An Iowa man drove his vehicle into a piece of farm equipment Monday evening in a fatal accident.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at about 6:10 PM Monday evening, a 2009 Pontiac CP driven by 20-year-old Timothy R. Greene of Edgewood, Iowa, was northbound on Highway 38 just outside Greeley, Iowa in Delaware county. Greene’s car struck the rear of a 1998 John Deere silage chopper driven by 56-year-old Richard Bockenstedt of Greeley.

The Pontiac then caught fire and came to rest on the middle of the roadway. Greene died at the scene. The silage chopper went into the east ditch. Bockenstedt was treated and released at the scene.
