Cyclones lose center to pro’s

BARCELONA, Spain – Iowa State sophomore Georgios Tsalmpouris will turn professional, forgoing his final three seasons as a collegiate athlete, head coach Steve Prohm announced Monday.

“We are happy for Georgios and his family that he’ll have the opportunity to realize his dream of playing professionally,” Prohm said. “We appreciate his contributions to the program. Georgios will always be a Cyclone and we wish him the best at the professional level.”

Tsalmpouris, a 7-1 center from Katerini, Greece, saw action in eight games as a freshman. He averaged 1.4 points in his lone season as a Cyclone.
