FORT DODGE – Cops nabbed a juvenile felon after shots were fired at apartments in Fort Dodge.

On November 1st, at approximately 8:31 P.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call of shots fired at the Dodger Apartments in Fort Dodge. The caller advised that multiple shots were fired and gave dispatchers a description of a vehicle that was seen leaving the area after the shots were fired. An officer arrived on scene quickly and began to investigate what had just occurred.

Shortly after the call came in, officers located a vehicle in the 1200 block 6th Ave N that matched the description given by a witness on scene at the Dodger Apartments. This vehicle was occupied by multiple subjects. In the course of the investigation in the 1200 block 6th Ave N a firearm was located, and one subject was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation thus far, a 17‐year‐old juvenile male has been arrested and charged with the following:

* Possession of Firearm by a Felon (D Felony)

The juvenile male was transported to the Central Iowa Detention facility in Eldora. As with all cases, the juvenile is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

At this time investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing to follow up on this incident. Police are encouraging anyone who may have seen or heard anything around this area at this time to contact the police department. With all investigations, any video
evidence is essential to resolving an incident and we encourage citizens in this area to contact the police department with video footage they may have. Information may also be submitted anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Webster County Attorney’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol.
