Wanted Central Iowa man busted with drugs during traffic stop

CLEAR LAKE – A wanted Central Iowa man was turned in for speeding and caught with drugs by Cerro Gordo county law enforcement.

A traffic complaint was phoned in to dispatchers just after midnight Sunday, reportedly for a speeding driver on 265th Street near Clear Lake. A Cerro Gordo county deputy responded, and the driver was located and stopped.

During the ensuing investigation, the driver, 35-year-old Jason Micheal Slattum of Story City, Iowa, was found to be a wanted individual. He had warrants out for his arrest in Marshall county for drunk driving and drug possession. He has been wanted since June 3 in a drunk driving case where he was found guilty but got a deferred judgement for drug possession. Records show he has failed to make a single payment on over $2,000 in fines and court fees in that case.

Illegal drugs were also found during Sunday’s traffic stop.

Slattum was arrested on charged of speeding, third offense possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended, speeding and the valid Marshall county warrants.
