HARDIN COUNTY – A Northern Iowa man who won a big lottery prize has been sent to prison for the sexual abuse of his granddaughters.

Dean Hilpipre, age 66 of Webster City, formerly of Alden, was sentenced by Hardin County District Court Judge Amy Moore for up to 25 years in prison for his conviction for 2nd degree sexual abuse assault of a child.

The sentence carries a mandatory minimum term which means Hilpipre will not be eligible for parole until he has served 17-and-a-half years of the sentence.

Moore also sentenced Hilpipre for up to 10 years in prison for 3rd degree sexual abuse assault involving the same victim. The two sentences were ordered to run concurrently to each other.

Over four years ago, Hilpipre pleaded guilty in a case involving his 6-year-old granddaughter, and this past December was arrested for allegedly abusing that girl’s older sister from 2012-2016.

Hilpipre earlier won a $100,000 lottery prize, but apparently, he may have some trouble spending it.
