ALDEN – A Northern Iowa man who awaits sentencing in a child sex abuse case has collected a big lottery check and will buy a house.
Dean Edward Hilpipre, age 61 of Alden, Iowa, was arrested on August 16, 2017, court records show, by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office
on a charge of second-degree sexual abuse for a crime he allegedly committed against a child on January 1, 2012. He was charged with another count of second-degree sexual abuse and lascivious acts with a child – fondle or touch, records show. He was quickly released from jail after posting bond.
Records show Hilpipre has entered a guilty plea in the case and now awaits sentencing on February 23 in Hardin county.
The Iowa Lottery this week congratulated Hilpipre for being a winner in one of its games.
“A big shout out to Dean Hilpipre of #Alden who recently retired and just claimed a $100,000 lottery prize!” the Iowa Lottery posted Wednesday to social media. “Dean purchased his winning ticket at his local +Casey’s General Store on Grand Ave. He said he plans to use his winnings to purchase a home. Congratulations! #WooHooForYou”
Victims need to file a civil case fast, before he can spend it, so they can get money they will need for counseling.
