Charles City man arrested in connection to felony domestic abuse case

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man was taken to jail in connection to an alleged domestic assault in which he choked the victim way back in May of last year.

On May 3, 2017 at about 8:27 PM, officers with the Charles City police department were called to the 1300 block of Gilbert Street to investigate a domestic incident. They spoke with a resident about an incident that happened the previous day. As a result of the investigation, the officers arrested 39-year-old Levi Green of Charles City on a charge of felony D domestic abuse assault involving choking. Green was taken to the county jail and booked. A judge put a no-contact order between Green and his alleged victim. Green was released from jail pending a court appearances.

Since then, Green has entered a not-guilty plea and been accused of contempt of court twice, including a violation of the no-contact order. Most recently, he was picked up by police on the evening of January 24 on arrest warrants in this case. He now awaits a plea change hearing and a contempt of court hearing next month.
