Mason City woman arrested after fleeing Fort Dodge cops

jailFORT DODGE – A traffic stop went wrong in Fort Dodge yesterday, with a Mason City woman fleeing along with another man, and illegal drugs were later found.

On July 16, 2015 at 6:23 PM, officer Nathan Wolfe of the Fort Dodge Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a stop sign violation. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop after officer Wolfe activated his emergency lights, and the vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed. Officer Wolfe ran the plate on the vehicle and the vehicle came back as being stolen from another city.

Officers pursued the vehicle for less than two minutes until it was forced to stop in the area of the 2100 block of S. 17th Street. The driver, who was identified as 18-year-old James Beam of Fort Dodge and a passenger who was identified as 21-year-old Ashley Troge of Mason City, attempted to flee the scene on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued and both were eventually arrested.

During the arrest, officers discovered a quantity of prescription pills in a plastic bag and drug paraphernalia.

The Iowa State Patrol was requested by Fort Dodge Police to conduct the accident investigation.

Beam was charged with Stop Sign violation, Reckless Driving, No Insurance, Speeding, Eluding, Interference with Official Acts, Possession Paraphernalia, Possession with Intent X3, and Theft 2nd Degree.

The passenger, Ashley Troge was charged with Interference with Official Acts. She is being held on $300.00 bond.

The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted by the Fort Dodge Fire Department, Unity Point Medical Center and the Iowa State Patrol.
