INDEPENDENCE, IOWA – An Iowa man mis-judged how close to the train tacks was walking and was struck and injured by a train and thrown clear.
According to law enforcement, on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at approximately 9:20 PM, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Canadian National Railroad of a subject that had been struck by a train. This was reported to have happened along railroad tracks between Lucas Avenue and Nathan Bethel Avenue east of Independence.
According to the investigation, an eastbound Canadian National train had struck a male that was walking east along the tracks. The male, identified as Chad Leonard King, age 32, of Independence, was found with only minor injuries and speaking to train crew members when emergency personnel arrived.
King told Sheriff’s Deputies that he had been walking on the outer edge of the railroad ties to Winthrop from Independence and had heard the train coming, but thought he was far enough off to the side of the tracks that the train could pass by. King was struck in the left leg by the lead edge of the train and thrown clear of the tracks. He was transported to the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence for treatment. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Winthrop Fire Department and Area Ambulance Service.
Hey Philly, what did you do with your left over tires? Just asking….
@retread-he dumped them in Mitchel County.
He probably wants to build a house out of tires next.
Buzz, the conservatives I have coffee with tried to pin me with “Bill Ayers”. By the time I got done with their long series of non-sequitters, the engineer got up and walked out. They squirm in their seats, and cannot handle my rearranging of their belief systems. Darwinian socialist policies disguised under conservative capitalism. Communism is an economic theory not a form of governance. He couldnt take it, got up and left. The MD won’t even sit with me. I’m too powerful. 🙂
But the 2x former governor and senator and his wife enjoy sitting with me. He told of his landing on an aircraft carrier in San Diego, and some of the invites to casinos he got on new years while governor. His wife likes to walk home each morning and he goes off to his legal consulting job. I speak with powerful people and they find me intelligent and well informed. They are all curious of the articulate well spoken man from Iowa with the crappy car and peculiar smell.
What does any of this have to do with the article? I’m all for you enjoying your new ventures, but I don’t want to hear about it all the time. You’re not saying anything new. Just blah, blah, blah. Same stories, different day. Stick to the articles, or go to your own blog site.
Good point. I guess when buzz pokes a jab at you, and there’s an ongoing dialogue between commentators, the lines become blurred. Id ask buzz what man getting hit by a train has to do with building a house out of tires? You bypassed that and went straight after the top dog: philosophus. I get it,,that’s how you alpha males like to roll.
Buzz made the comment because they are related. Both are stupid.
Agreed.
have you heard stupid!
There is a reason it is illegal to walk on railroad tracks.
