IOWA CITY – An irate Iowa woman who was locked-out of her apartment and furiously banging the window to get in before throwing a table at cops was jailed when a pot-growing operation was discovered when she was let inside.
Iowa City police were called to 29 W. Burlington Street near the university of Iowa campus at 12:23 AM Friday to deal with a woman who was banging on a window at the apartment complex there. Police discovered 19-year-old Jailin Turner on the balcony, trying to get into her apartment; she had lost her keys and was trying to get inside. Police said she then threw a plastic table off the balcony at officers.
According to a police report, police called the fire department to help breach the door to the apartment, as the property management could not be reached.
Once inside, officers observed two bongs in plain site. Turner was asked to provide ID, and when she reached into a drawer, an officer observed a grinder and a scale. Turner then gave officers permission to search her apartment, according to the report, and two potted marijuana plants were found with growing lights above them.
Turner was arrested and faces felony controlled substance violation, felony failure to affix tax stamp, disorderly house and possession of drug paraphernalia.
