MASON CITY – A former Mason City woman has pleaded not guilty to a drug charge and child endangerment stemming from a raid of her house in Iowa City.
Tracy Lynn Mennenga, age 40, surrendered to Mason City police in September after a warrant was issued for her arrest in Iowa City after cops raided her home there and discovered powerful drugs in the presence of her 7-year-old child.
Mennenga was placed under arrest on a warrant out of Johnson county, Iowa, which had been issued by a judge on September 3. She was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail where she was booked and held before being transported to Iowa City to answer for charges of child endangerment and keeping a drug house.
According to documents supplied to NIT by the Iowa City Police Department, on June 17, 2014, officers with the Johnson County Drug Task Force and Iowa City Police Department served a search warrant at her home located at 19 Amber Lane in Iowa City. During the search, investigators recovered a quantity of several different types of drugs including marijuana, LSD, MDMA (Ecstasy or Molly), and heroin. Mennenga admitted during a post-miranda interview that she resides in the house with an adult male and her 7-year-old son, who was present in the house during the raid.
Mennenga pleaded not guilty to both charges in November and awaits a jury trial on January 20 in Johnson county. She claims via social media to work at the Iowa Medical Classification Center in Coralville and is a graduate of Mason City High School.
