Calm before the Storm at the North Iowa Events Center

MASON CITY – Driving through the North Iowa Events Center early Wednesday morning, where the North Iowa Fair will be held starting today through Sunday, showed a mostly deserted fair grounds. The calm before the storm.

The Royal West Amusements, Inc. out of Montana, had the majority of the midway up as you first drive on the grounds. You can see the rides that will be available for all the excited children waiting to get on them later today.

The food court already has a variety of stands set up for the fair food lover and the benches have been placed for people to sit and relax.

Bart Pals was at the Small Animal Building getting it ready for the birds, rabbits and ducks that will be coming in, “We start taking them in at 8:00 am, but you can see that we got some early. There’s a rooster running loose already and he thinks he owns the place”.

As the rooster crowed, Pals told, on the video, of the events that the small animals will be going through. “Welcome to the Fair,” he said, grinning, happy that the fair was here and that it was a beautiful day to start.

In the Junior Barn there was one solo cow and a group of sheep, just starting their day and waiting for more arrivals.

Today and Friday there will be free pony rides from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Horse Arena. Each child will receive a free bandanna.

See Ya At the Fair!
