Cerro Gordo County foundation offers $92,000 in grants

MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County Community Foundation (CGCCF) held its annual awards ceremony Monday, July 8, announcing grants in excess of $92,286.62 to 38 area non-profit agencies and organizations.

Governing Committee Chair David Laudner was quoted as saying “Many deserving non-profit organizations applied for grants this year. A total of 58 grant requests equaling over $220,000.00 were received. Our governing committee had to make difficult choices to award the available $92,286.62. We’re happy to be able to help out these non-profit groups, and look forward to continuing the grant process next year.”

The CGCCF assists in providing resources for a broad range of existing and future charitable needs throughout the Cerro Gordo County area. Grants are awarded in the areas of arts and culture; community betterment; education; environment; health; historic preservation; and human services. The following is a complete list of grantees receiving funding from the Cerro Gordo County Community Foundation.

Arts & Culture:
• Central Gardens of North Iowa: NEP South Steps and Landing – $2,000
• City of Mason City: Bill Baird Puppet Re-housing and Documentation – $1,500
• Clear Lake Arts Council: Installation of Public Musical Instrument – $1,500

Community Betterment:
• Camp Tanglefoot: New Stove for Multi-Use Building – $530
• City of Mason City: Georgia Hanford Park Final Phase – $2,500

The Cerro Gordo County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, has been created by and for the people of Cerro Gordo County. The Community Foundation’s main goals are to support charitable projects and programs in Cerro Gordo County and to attract additional funds to assist donors in creating lasting legacies through a variety of giving options within Cerro Gordo County.
