MASON CITY – An illegal driver toting meth in his car got his sled towed and a trip to jail.
On Wednesday at about 5:27 AM, officers with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop at Grouse Avenue and 300th Street when the auto was observed with improper rear lamps. The driver, 35-year-old Anthony John Leichtnam of Mason City, was discovered to have no valid driver’s license, no insurance and to be in possession of methamphetamine. Leichtnam is a dangerous felon who has served time in Iowa prisons. He has been accused of violent crimes such as domestic abuse causing injury, felony assault causing serious injury, felony burglary, felony theft, and drunk driving, among other crimes.
Leichtnam was taken to jail, booked and released pending a September 5 court date.

If you insist on being in the drug game, make sure your car is properly legal; stupidest mistake made by druggies. However, if you’re really smart, you’ll quit doing drugs entirely, get yourself clean, put on some nice clothes, and march down to Des Moines to lobby lawmakers as to why you feel you should be able to use drugs legally. Philosophically, there is a good Libertarian argument to be had, but these druggies are so dim and self centered, they can never see past their next fix.
