MASON CITY – The Iowa DNR will be stocking Big Blue pit with rainbow trout on January 19th and North Iowa families are invited to experience the second annual Ice Fishing Derby there that day.
Ice Fishing gets underway at 11:30 AM Saturday morning. There will be Iowa DNR volunteers on hand to answer questions and help as needed. The Mason City Recreation Department will be providing refreshments and prizes to those who attend.
The event is free, but anglers must be properly licensed. Participants should bring appropriate ice fishing gear. A limited number of poles and tackle will be available to those who do not have any.
The event is sponsored by the Iowa Department of Natural Resource and MC Recreation Department.
