Mason City man critically injured in motorcycle accident Sunday

MASON CITY – A Mason City man was critically injured in a motorcycle accident Sunday.

Mason City police say that on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at 3:50 PM, officers responded to a personal injury collision in the in 3400 block of 4th Street SW. The collision was between a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle.

The SUV was driven by Luke Conklin, age 36, of Mason City. The motorcycle was operated by Tony Walker, age 49, also of Mason City. Conklin was driving westbound and made a left turn from 4th Street SW. Walker was eastbound on 4th Street SW. Conklin did not see Walker until he was turning. Walker struck Conklin’s vehicle and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Walker was transported to MercyOne North Iowa by paramedics from the Mason City Fire Department. He is currently in critical condition. Conklin was uninjured. The investigation was completed at the scene. Conklin was cited for failure to yield right of way upon making a left turn.

On April 2, 2016, Tony Walker was involved in another motorcycle accident. Maren Gabor of Algona, Iowa, was southbound on South Federal as a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Tony Walker of Mason City, was northbound. Police say “Gabor allegedly turned left in front of Walker.” Walker’s Harley struck the passenger side of Gabor’s car.  As a result of that accident, Walker was transported to Mercy Hospital by Mason City Fire Medics with serious injuries.
