DES MOINES – The Senate Oversight Committee will again zero in on Governor Terry Branstad as it holds hearings this week.

The hearings will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at the Statehouse, and will focus on obtaining information as to why or if Branstad officials allegedly pressured judges to rule against Iowans seeking unemployment benefits; was there a cover-up and were facts concealed in overpayments to certain officials; and did the Branstad Administration create a hostile work environment for state workers resisting an unfair “pro-employer, anti-employee” approach to unemployment benefits.

Live and recorded video and additional documents regarding the hearings are available here.

Speakers featured at Tuesday’s hearings are Legislative Services Agency staffer Holly Lyons on LSA’s review of Branstad Department of Administrative Services claims of financial savings and sworn testimony from seven Iowa Workforce Development Administrative Law Judges (ALJs).

At Wednesday’s hearings, Iowa Workforce Development Staff will take questions as well as fraud investigators and factfinders.
