MASON CITY – A Mason City man made what some might consider a dangerous driving move Wednesday afternoon, leading to an accident and citation.
According to Mason City police, at 1:51 PM on Wednesday, August 20, Todd Dann of Mason City was driving southbound in a Mercury Cougar on South Washington Avenue and 2nd Street SW while Shawn Andrea of Rock Falls was ahead of him in a Dodge Ram truck. Apparently, Andrea was in the left (east) lane and Dann tried to pass Andrea from behind while passing on the left (shoulder) and then pulled in front of Andrea’s vehicle right before the intersection of 2nd Street SW and Washington Avenue. Dann’s vehicle collided with Andrea’s vehicle.
Dann was cited for unsafe passing.
