WADENA, IOWA – An Iow man driving around with an open booze container lost control of his car, crashing it into a ditch before it burst into flames, police said.
On August 15, at approximately 5:10 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle on fire near the intersection of Empire Road and 157th Street near Wadena, Iowa. When deputies arrived on scene, it was found that Chad L. King, age 31 of Independence, was westbound on 157th street when he lost control of his 1997 Buick Park Avenue, going into the north ditch. King attempted to drive the vehicle out of the ditch when it suddenly burst into flames in the east ditch of Empire Road. The damage to the vehicle was considered a total loss, and no one at the scene sustained injuries.
King was cited for Failure to Maintain Control, No Proof of Insurance, and Open Container. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Wadena Fire.
