MASON CITY – An Albert Lea, Minnesota man was caught with methamphetamine in Mason City very early Friday morning.

According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Jeffry Joe Bryant was stopped by a Cerro Gordo deputy near Quince Avenue and 180th Street in Northeast Mason City at about 1:46 AM on Friday morning, August 8. Bryant has a suspended driver’s license. The officer conducted an investigation and discovered Bryant was in possession of methamphetamine.

Bryant’s vehicle was impunded, and he was arrested for first offense possession of meth and driving with a suspended license. He later posted $1,000 surety bond and was released from jail pending an August 22 court date.

Bryant is awaiting trial in Cerro Gordo county on a drunk driving charge. He was stopped by Iowa State Patrol in March. He was ordered to complete a substance abuse evaluation at Prairie Ridge but failed to do so. He has a plea hearing scheduled for August 11.
