Letter received from At-Large City-Council-elect Alex Kuhn:
I am very sad to read the anonymous accusations and want to give a clear representation of the account. While eating dinner with campaign supporters at a local restaurant and lounge, I was deeply offended by the vulgar comments being made about women by the gentlemen seated next to us. I felt obligated to kindly ask them to stop as women could hear the comments and this was the second time within a week i have encountered this man at local restaurants and making these kinds of remarks. I asked them to conduct themselves in a better fashion. I expressed that we should all respect each other in our community and not talk about such negative and offensive topics in public.
I am not surprised that this anonymous person would twist my words and go public. I am sad that people are having to read this and questioning my character as i was doing what i thought was best at the time regarding such degrading comments being made about women.
The threatening comments are simply untrue and were never said, there is just no other way to explain that false claim. Didn’t happen and comments like that would never come out of my mouth.
I have tried to reach out to the accusers and have a nice conversation when i learned of their false accusation to NIT, all i received back was another degrading comment this time via text message.
Lets all treat this for what it is, an anonymous, false claim in a world in which sometimes a 24 hour news cycle can be detrimental to those who are trying to do good.
My plan is use the best advice I have ever received; “every man faces adversity, its how you handle adversity that shows what kind of man you are.”
I plan to forget about the false claims and work together with everyone in this community to bring about a more positive community dialaouge about the important issues ahead of us.
Thank you all for reading this and as always, I am available to talk to anyone and everyone who calls. Hopefully, the accuser and I will be able to laugh about this over coffee some day.
They say you need thick skin to do this, no doubt about that.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Alex J. Kuhn
