CLEAR LAKE – An established Clear Lake electrical business is changing ownership.
David Poppy, a licensed master electrician, is the new owner of Jacobson Electric, located at 801 Buddy Holly Place in Clear Lake. The business first opened in the same location, back in 1960. Larry Jacobson is retiring after running the business since 1994. He had taken over the business after his father, Warren, retired that year.
Larry is still working at the shop with David and four full-time employees, helping to ensure the smooth transition. The business will stay at the same location, but computer upgrades, a new logo, and new ambitions will help take it, perhaps, to new heights.
“I took the leap, and I am very excited about this opportunity,” David Poppy said. “I’ll be looking to do more work not only in Clear Lake but in Mason City and surrounding areas.”
David said they have several fairly large projects they are about to embark upon, as well as lots of smaller ones, as he prepped to send one of his employees, Jeff Marshall, out on a service call to a Clear Lake residence.
Larry plans to slow down and head into full-retirement over the course of the upcoming weeks, and wants to make sure David is all set. David, meanwhile, while working at job sites, will be modernizing and changing a few things around at the office.
“I have great attention to detail. I want to make sure the quality service Jacobson is known for continues,” he said.
Way to Dave.
