MASON CITY – A North Iowa man who was accused of felony drug dealing and caught twice previously for drunk driving was caught again for the same offense early Saturday morning.
Kory John Ferden, age 26 of Plymouth, was stopped by a Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s deputy Saturday at about 1:46 AM at the 1100 block of Maple Drive in Mason City. He was also cited for speeding, records show.
Ferden was caught for the same offense twice before, the first time on March 5th, 2011 in Floyd county and the second time on August 11, 2012 in Cerro Gordo county. Ferden was allowed to plead down to 1st offense OWI on the second stop, and still owes $196.63 to Iowa courts in that plea deal.
Ferden was shown major leniency again in 2012, when Judge Colleen Weiland dismissed numerous serious drug charges against him. Ferden had been busted with the help of the North Iowa Drug Task Force in possession of and trying to sell psilocybin, marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms and faced 7 felonies. Judge Weiland allowed a plea deal, and Ferden served about 3 days in jail and was placed on 3 years’ probation. He paid $3,656.60 in court costs but was never fined.
Ferden remains in the Cerro Gordo Coutny Jail Saturday.
