Boy sickened after eating illegal brownies

DELAND, Fla., Feb. 15 (UPI) — A Central Florida middle school student was hospitalized after eating brownies laced with marijuana that had been brought to the school, officials said.

Volusia County sheriff’s officials said a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old boy admitted bringing the brownies to Southwestern Middle School in DeLand, the Orlando Sentinel reported Thursday.

About a dozen students sampled the brownies or were aware they were on campus, deputies said.

Deputies said they also found a small bag of marijuana hidden on campus by one of the boys who brought the confections.

Prosecutors will decide if charges will be filed.

The condition of the child taken to the hospital was not released.

Perhaps so, but they’re helping themselves aren’t they? It’s called being in the business of criminalization. It’s systemic now and simply part of our culture. Courts, lawyers, drug councilors, psychiatrists and law enforcement all benefit from keeping this substance illegal and also seizing assets which are used to pay salaries now. It’s a business today in America. Prisons are a business.
Not long ago there was a local forum of sorts called the “Blunt Truth”. The REAL blunt truth is that everyone behind it had a vested interest in demonizing this substance and maintaining the status quo and now you know the rest of the story, good day.

All of the knee jerk nannies are worried about children getting hold of marijuana in medical marijuana states. Florida isn’t one of them, and the kids are easily obtaining it. How about a system where it is legalized and regulated? Black market dealers don’t care what age their customers are. They sell to anyone with cash. When marijuana is regulated like tobacco or alcohol, people will have to show id to obtain it, plus the states will make money off of the purchase, not the drug cartels.
Those people, police, and politicians who support prohibition are hurting our communities and the children in our communities.
