INDIANOLA – A Des Moines man was killed today as he fled a sheriff’s deputy near Indianola, Iowa.
According to a report, at about 3:15 AM Friday, Jeremiah E. Johnson was westbound on Highway 92 and being pursued by a Warren County Sheriff when his vehicle collided with a police Crown Victoria which was parked and blocking the eastbound lane.
Johnson died at the scene. A five year old child inside Johson’s vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported from the scene.
Johnson was wearing a seatbelt, according to the report, while the child was unrestrained.
The incident is under investigation.
