Consumin’ cans of Coors in a car lands North Iowa woman in jail

MASON CITY – Clear Lake police took an alleged drunk driver off the street early Saturday.

Police confirmed Saturday night that a 33 year-old Swaledale woman, Heather Marie Jones, was arrested at about 5:30 AM near the intersection of Grouse Ave and 27th Street, south of Clear Lake, after at least two calls were made implicating her as a drunk driver.

Police located the vehicle, and conducted a search. They found a Coors Light 24 pack, and dumped out an open can of the brew. The officer also pulled a purse out of the car.

Jones was arrested and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail where she was booked at 7:11 AM. She was charged with Operating Under the Influence and Open Container.

A breath alcohol test conducted by a Clear Lake police officer at 5:53 AM on a female registered 0.163 and 0.163; the report does not say the subject’s name, but this was the only test conducted on a female Saturday in Cerro Gordo county.
