Poll: Americans want third party

U.S. Capitol
U.S. Capitol

According to a new Gallup poll, 60% of Americans say the Democratic and Republicans parties do such a poor job of representing the American people that a third major party is needed.

The 60% number is the highest figure Gallup has measured in the 10-year history of this question.

Gallup also reported that a new low of 26% believe the two major parties adequately represent Americans.

Gallup has also reported higher negative feelings toward the two major political parties – Democrats and Republicans – since the Federal Government recently shut down.

Also last week, a new poll showed the lowest-ever favorable rating ever for the Republican party, sitting at a lowly 28%.

Liberals are more of a problem than the parties and 99% are democ rats!!

Term limits for congress. Boom. Problem solved.

I go you one better. If the politicians fail to come up with a vote that allows the government to keep functioning. Stop the politicians pay AND freeze their assets. See how long they want to drag their feet when they are held to the fire.

What is really being expressed by voters is exasperation with a political system where their selected representatives are swallowed up by a system where money, not the voters, holds sway over the system.
As voters we rail at this by threatening to vote them all out in order to start over. Even if this were to come about it would not take long before the replacements would be consumed by the same system.
It has been taught in political science classes that there is a reservoir of knowledge that resides in legislators who have had long careers in the senate or house so that would argue against term limits.
However, until we can come up with a system that includes a barrier between legislators and money, term limits arguably is the only way we can have a shot at a government that represents those that actually vote and pay taxes.

We just need to show the career politicians that we will not tolerate this crap any more. Vote them all out. Put in term limits to keep them out and start all over.

Term limits begin and end with the election process, so we already have term limits. If you are not satisfied with a persons performance in office, vote against them. It’s up to you, me…..all of us to vote for what or whom we believe in. Only then does the process work. Pissing and moaning about something from your computer screen does no good at all. People need to be actively engaged in a process if they truly want it to work and succeed.

The problem is that no one will run against incumbents in a party. For instance, if you are a Democrat and the incumbent is a Democrat, you are not likely to vote for a Republican just to vote the bum out. We need third party candidates or challengers to the incumbents, and that isn’t likely to happen.

we dont need a new party. we need to fire every one of those worthless politicians in office now starting with obama. start from scratch and watch everything change,
