WASHINGTON – President Obama said Saturday that Republicans aim to shut down the federal government Tuesday just to slow down the Affordable Care Act.
In his weekly address, President Obama says that on October 1st, a big part of the Affordable Care Act will go live and give uninsured Americans the chance to buy “the same quality, affordable health care as everyone else.”
The President warned that party politics could damage the economy.
“A group of far-right Republicans in Congress might choose to shut down the government and potentially damage the economy just because they don’t like this law.
The President urged Congress to both pass a budget by Monday and raise the nation’s debt ceiling so that “we can keep growing the economy.”
He also said that those without health insurance and those who buy it on the individual market should visit HealthCare.gov to find out how to get covered on Tuesday.
“If you’re one of the vast majority of Americans who already have health care, you already have new benefits you didn’t before, like free mammograms and contraceptive care with no copay, and discounts on prescription medicine for seniors. You’ve already got new protections in place too, like no more lifetime limits on your care, no more discriminating against children with preexisting conditions like asthma, or being able to stay on your parents’ plan until you turn 26.”

Matt;…..I am not sure if you have been watching the real world lately,about Abamacare….companys like UPS Walgreens and others have been cutting employees coverage,or changed wrongly,s and i have seen it in my small company they were nice enought to add 10$ a week fot my insurance rise thats going to happen when Pres. said a while ago that this plan would low all people preimiums so this plan in long run future will cost me 900 to 2500 more a year or who knows maybe more if all uninsured people dont get some kind of insurance.so the facts are out there
that we working people will pay not the govt.on this plan

This is from the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Note that it says spouses who are eligible for coverage by their own employers are the ones they are dropping so they are not abandoning these people they are just telling them to use the coverage offered by their employers. And, note that UPS will save $60,000,000 a year by doing so. If you do the math you will see that UPS saves $4000 per employee each year. In essence, they are improving their profit margin while cutting benefits for their employees. Do you think the spouses of the executives of the company will lose their coverage? Of course they won’t.
If you listen only to Fox News then you might believe the information about Walgreens too. However, if you listen to Walgreen’s, you will read that they project lower out of pocket costs for their employees. Additionally, Walgreens is expected to see a boost in their profits of anywhere from $550-700 million dollars due to Obamacare and the prescription drug plan in all of the policies.

Hey LVS, do an ignoramus like myself a favor. Explain to me what policies he has negotiated directly with Iran and Syria. He made a deal with the international community with regards to Syria which will probably result in the disarmament of chemical weapons from Assad. Possibly saving American lives, we’ll see how it plays out.
He spoke on the phone for a few minutes with the most moderate president from Iran in 30+ years, I’m unaware of any negotiations that took place.

Let’s start with all of the lies he has told us over the last five years. Especially the ones about Obamacare. Even his main backers are saying what a wreck it is.

He sent his proxy Kerry to Syria and that is the same as him doing it. He is also the one who supported the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. It is real hard to tell what he does or doesn’t do as he changes every single time he speaks. And of course if his teleprompter breaks down he just mumbles more lies. He has done more to divide this country than any other president in history.
As far as I know John Kerry has not been to Syria lately to negotiate anything. If I’m wrong I’d be happy to accept any evidence to the contrary. The Egypt thing is a little more complicated than he “supported the Muslim Brotherhood”. The statements about lies and dividing this country are vague, general and laughable.
If you don’t like his policies I can respect that, but please use facts and realities to rebut those policies instead of generalities and talking points.

Well here are some for you-Obama says you can have health care for the cost of your cable bill=fact is-a family’s share of med cost can go as high as $12,700 a year or $6,350 per person, that is on top of those cable and cell phone bills. Obama say you can keep your current health care at current cost-fact is, nothing in Obamacare guarantees that you can keep your insurance, Obama say-our deficits are coming down so by the end of the year we will have cut them in half since he took office-fact 78 billion of the reduction comes from the sequester which he opposed. A lot of the reduction is the Iraq and Afganistan wars are done or winding down. The deficit was 10.6Tr. when he took office and is 16.7Tr. now and going up. I could go on and on but am running out of space. Don’t listen to people like ????, they are nothing but liberal haters that come on here just to cause trouble. They are like their leader, they will lie and say anything to cause problems.
Kerry is involved directly with Russia and Syria talking about chemical weapons. And the only reason American lives will be saved by this is if we can Keep Obama from sending troops to support the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Quada fighting there. He has already violated the law saying weapons could not be sent to terrorist groups. As far as Iran he has been negotiating by proxy for 4 years. He helps all he can their terrorist groups like Hamas in Lebanon and in the Gaza Strip. As far as this being the most moderate President in Iran, that is a joke the ruling Mullahs control that country and have since Carter help them get there during his presidency.

Tim, can you explain to me (with citations please) how the president has been negotiating with Iran for the past 4 years. Every report I heard was about the two countries would be communicating for the first time since 1979 if they met at the UN. It’s hilarious to think that the Commander & Chief who actually got Bin Laden is the one you’re saying is purposely helping terrorists.
