Population of Fort Dodge to drop by 4 after meth convictions

justice2SIOUX CITY – Three men and a woman who conspired to distribute methamphetamine pled guilty in federal court in Sioux City.

Billy Jack Kloss, 35, Norman (Chase) Greenfield, 25, Timothy Gailey, 46, and Nancy Larson, 54, all from Fort Dodge, Iowa, were each convicted of one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Kloss, Greenfield and Larson were also convicted of one count of distributing methamphetamine; and Gailey was also convicted of one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Kloss plead guilty on June 6, 2013; Greenfield plead guilty on June 13, 2013; and Gailey and Larson plead guilty on June 28, 2013.

At the plea hearings, Kloss, Greenfield and Larson each admitted their involvement in a conspiracy lasting from 2012 through January 2013 in the Fort Dodge, Iowa, area that involved the distribution of 500 grams or more of a methamphetamine mixture which contained 150 grams or more of actual (pure) methamphetamine. Each distributed or aided and abetted another in the distribution of methamphetamine to individuals cooperating with law enforcement. A number of the drug transactions occurred within 1000 feet of protected locations in Fort Dodge, such as Saint Paul’s Elementary School and Holy Rosary School Public Playground.

Sentencing hearings before United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett will be set after presentence reports are prepared. Each remains in the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. On the conspiracy conviction each faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $10,000,000 fine, a special assessment of $100, and five years up to life of supervised release following any imprisonment. Gailey faces the same punishment on his possession with intent to distribute conviction. On their distribution conviction, Kloss and Greenfield each face a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 80 years’ imprisonment; a $10,000,000 fine, a special assessment of $100, and eight years up to life of supervised release. On her distribution conviction, Larson faces a mandatory minimum sentence of one year imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 40 years’ imprisonment, a $2,000,000 fine, a special assessment of $100, and six years up to life of supervised release.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations.
