Minnesota toddler’s body pulled from river

ELK RIVER, Minn., May 27 (UPI) — Divers found the body of a Minnesota toddler in the Elk River Sunday, the day before her second birthday, authorities said.

Searchers found the body of Daisy Jo Holland about 2:30 p.m. CDT several hundred yards downstream from the family campsite she had wandered away from Friday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Elk River Police Chief Brad Rolfe said there was no sign of foul play. An autopsy was to be performed by the Ramsey County medical examiner’s office.

Rolfe said Saturday he girl’s parents, who had not been identified, were distraught.

The girl had been camping with her mother, two other adults and five other children at Wapiti Park Campground in Sherburne County, about 33 miles northwest of Minneapolis.

More than 260 volunteers had joined in the search for the little girl.
