by Jody Spear and Kelly Meyer –

RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – Early Friday morning, September 21st, at around 5:30 AM, Fertile Fire and Rescue and Hanlontown Fire Department were dispatched to 330th Street and Finch Avenue for a barn fire.

It was reported that the barn was fully engulfed in flames and that a vehicle nearby was on fire, too.  (See photo, below.)

At the scene, around 8:00 AM, the barn was burnt to the ground and firefighters were still putting out smoldering embers.

The day before the barn fire, late afternoon on Thursday, firefighters were at the same location for a crop fire. The crop had already been picked and the fire was put out.
