Changing traffic conditions on U.S. 218 at Janesville begin Sept. 24

MASON CITY, Iowa – The next phase of construction on the new interchange at the former intersection of U.S. 218 and Bremer County Road C-50/Barrick Road will cut off frontage road access into Janesville beginning Monday, Sept. 24, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

This closure will allow for reconstruction of a short portion of Barrick Road, as well as a new entrance to Kwik Star. Signs on U.S. 218 will direct travelers to Kwik Star and downtown Janesville businesses from Maple Street on the north end of Janesville and from Seventh Street on the south end.

This closure will remain in effect until late October.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
