DULUTH – The Minnesota State Patrol intervened in a very dangerous situation recently, as an allegedly drunk man maneuvered a giant piece of construction equipment down a sidewalk in this Northern Minnesota city.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a trooper recently arrested a Proctor, Minn., man driving a Caterpillar excavator on a Duluth sidewalk in the wee hours of the morning.
The 27-year-old man allegedly was drunk — more than twice the legal limit — and the construction equipment was allegedly stolen.
The trooper spotted Dustin Lunde in the excavator near Superior Street and Michigan Avenue just after 3:30 a.m. Lunde allegedly admitted to stealing the excavator. He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and second-degree DWI.
