MASON CITY – North Iowa dodged the tornados and other dangerous weather – so far- that was forecast for Saturday, but that hasn’t prevented high winds from wreaking some havoc across the area.
Numerous reports of downed branches, signs and blowing debris have surfaced over the last two days.
Alliant Energy was tending to a downed wire and snapped power pole near the Sherwin Williams paint store Sunday afternoon.
The area was roped off as crews were working on a couple different issues, it appeared.
A call to Sherwin Willaims confirmed that the downed pole and wires had not impacted the store.
North Iowa is not out of the woods yet.
Despite bright and sunny skies, the wind was whipping at high speeds at 5:00 pm and a tornado watch was in effect until 11:00 pm for the region.
