WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – Sarah Steinauer (Fr., Clarinda, IA) recorded an 82 at Briggs Woods Golf Course to win the Ellsworth Invitational on Tuesday.
Steinauer shot 39 on the front nine and 43 on the back nine en route to her first college win.
“I am very excited for Sarah,” golf coach Chris Frenz said. “She played great today after a little bit of a slow start. She is just hitting the ball so well right now and is really controlling her shots around the green extremely well.
“She eagled hole four and that really boosted her confidence to a whole new level.”
Mikayla Smith (Fr., Mason City, IA) shot an 89 while Moriah Sherman (Fr., Charles City, IA) shot a 92 to round out NIACC’s finishers. Alexandria Eckenrod (Fr., Mason City, IA) didn’t play due to injury, but is expected to be ready for the AIB Invite at Lake Panorama on Friday and Saturday.
“This team is starting to gel and with the Regional Tournament only two weeks away,” said Frenz. “We like where we’re headed.”
