OBIT: Thomas Dean Fischer

Tom passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, Iowa at the age of 90 years. Graveside services will be on Thursday, April 16, 1:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Thomas Dean Fischer, the son of Thomas Merlyn and Opal Velma (Faulkner) Fischer, was born on June 28, 1935, in Hamilton County, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1954. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard.

On May 12, 1957, Tom was united in marriage with Sharon L. Cleveland at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove, on a farm in Humboldt County and another one north of Holmes before moving to the Fischer home farm.

Tom was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and New Hope Lutheran Church. Tom loved farming and raising hogs. After retiring, he enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Tom passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, Iowa at the age of 90 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon; sister, Sheryl Fischer and brother-in-law, Gary Claude.

Survivors include his sister-in-law, Edwina Claude of Clear Lake; brother-in-law, Gary Cleveland (Charlotte) of Sartell, MN; four nieces, Jennifer Joslin of Sartell, MN, Tamera Gordon of Clear Lake, Kristi Malley of Sartell, MN and Teresa Rueter of Sartell, MN; three nephews, Tracy Claude of Sheldon, Scott Claude of Northwood and Shawn Claude of Cedar Falls and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be on Thursday, April 16, 1:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove with visitation from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
