Fire Training Center ribbon cutting ceremony held (photos)

MASON CITY – A ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-completed Fire Training Center on NIACC’s campus was held on Monday afternoon.

The Mason City Chamber of Commerce was on hand, as well as State Senator Amanda Ragan, Mayor Eric Bookmeyer and at-large city council member Scott Tornquist. Fire Chief Bob Platts and Mason City Police Chief Michael Lashbrook were there as well.

NIACC and the Mason City Fire Department received $511,000 for the building, which will be used by numerous emergency services departments in North Iowa. The building simulates a two-and-a-half story house. It will also be used by police departments to practice forced entries, Mason City Fire Chief Bob Platts said.
