Henry K. Pirhonen, 78, of Mason City passed Friday, August 8, 2025 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 Monday, August 18, 2025 at Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 5th St SE, Mason City, IA 50401. Private inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Heikki “Henry” K. was born November 18, 1946 in Ilmajoki, Finland the son of Tauno and Kerttu Pirhonen. At a young age the family moved to Quebec, Canada where Henry graduated from Val d’Or High School. He began working and traveling, which eventually led him to Mason City, IA. He owned and operated Wooz’s, a full service gas station and car wash, and dedicated himself to caring for their customers for over 45 years.
On June 26, 1976 he married Nancy DeMar at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, and together made their home in Mason City.
Henry is survived by his wife, Nancy; sister-in-law, Diane (Don) Marcou; brother-in-law, Ray (Lyn) DeMar; nephews, John (Kim) Pirhonen, Ken (Bernie) Pirhonen, James (Claire) Pirhonen, James (Anna) Haliburton, Chad (Jenna) DeMar, Clint DeMar, Eric (Leslie) DeMar; as well as many great nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Matti Pirhonen, and sister, Hilkka Haliburton.
