Dale Floyd Evans, son of Floyd and Emma Mae (Kleen) Evans, was born April 5, 1936 in Dolliver, Iowa. He received his education in Dolliver, graduating from Dolliver High School. On November 5, 1958 Dale was inducted into the United States Army serving stateside as well as in Germany. He was honorably discharged on October 26, 1960 and returned to Iowa.
Dale began his employment at John Morrall packing house in Estherville in 1965, working there for 20 years before retiring in 1985. Dale then worked with Bill Ellingrod assisting with surveying jobs as well as doing maintenance work. Dale was not one to ever “sit still” and always had projects he was working on for himself or others.
On July 12, 1970 Dale was united in marriage to Marian C. Barkve at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. They were blessed with a son and daughter.
Dale was a faithful and devoted member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he served on several committees and boards. He was always willing to help in any capacity he was needed. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2295 and served as Senior Vice Commander. Dale was always ready for a game of cards with his family and friends and especially enjoyed his 500 Card Club he was a member of.
Dale passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Emma Mae Evans; his wife, Marian; brothers, Bob Evans and Larry Evans; and a sister, Emma Jean Manson.
He is survived by his children, Mark (Nichole) Evans of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Karla (David) Lappe of Algona, Iowa; grandchildren, Zach Foxhoven, Emma Foxhoven, Mason Foxhoven, Payton Evans, Dylan Lappe (fiancé, Kylie), Drew Lappe, and Dawson Lappe; two great grandchildren, Henry Lappe and Lydia Lappe; a brother, Warren (Pat) Evans of Estherville, Iowa; sisters, Faye Egerstrom of Sherman Oak, California and Donna Mayne of LeMars, Iowa; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
