MASON CITY – It may be more commonplace to walk down a city street and smoke weed, but that doesn’t mean you won’t go to jail.
Mason City police were sent to North Federal Avenue and 7th Street Saturday morning at about 8:30 AM on a report of a male subject walking down the street smoking marijuana. Officers located the subject – 24-year-old Monroe Brown III – who then gave officers a false name. He was subsequently arrested on local arrest warrants, including possession of drugs in a correctional facility (the Cerro Gordo County Jail) and failure to appear in court on a theft charge. He was not charged with a marijuana violation, however.
Brown is being held on $9,300 bond.

SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
