Candace “Marie” Clark, 74, passed away on Tuesday March 25, 2025 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, April 11, 2025 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, Iowa with Mark Doebel officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm.
Marie was born on November 28, 1950, to Russel and Illa (Patrick) Peterson. She grew up in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she graduated from the local high school before continuing her education at Central College in Pella, Iowa, earning a degree in nursing.
Marie eventually settled in Mason City, where she worked as a nurse at Mercy and Good Shepherd. Over the years, she held various jobs that reflected her many passions, especially her love of sewing. Whether assisting customers or working alongside coworkers, Marie had a special way of making lasting friendships wherever she went.
On August 30, 1986, Marie married Mark Clark, and together they built a home in Mason City. The couple shared a love for thrift shopping, music, reading, and British mysteries. Marie, a devoted Bugs Bunny fan, also enjoyed classic Looney Tunes.
A talented seamstress, Marie generously shared her skills with the community, creating costumes for the local theater and Grace Church. Her creativity and kindness left a lasting impact on those around her.
Those left to cherish memories of Marie are her husband, Mark; brother, Bill Peterson of Henderson; sisters-in-law, Peg Read of Mason City and Pam Clark; nephews and nieces, Kyle Peterson, Nick (Stephanie) Clark, Danielle (Matt) Just, Jared Clark, Mackenzie Clark, Mike Andrews, Jason Andrews, and Cole Read; as well as great niece and nephews; feline companions, Boo, Sawyer, Cozy, and Cali; and other extended family and friends.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Homer and Betty Jean “Beje” Clark; brother-in-law; Paul Clark; nephew, Adam Peterson.
